BAPTISM
BAPTISM
Jesus is worth following.
Baptism is a way that we declare publicly we are followers of Jesus once we receive His free gift of salvation, and is one of the most important, and most joy filled, next steps that you can take on your journey in walking with the Lord.
We want to help you get ready for this step, what it means, and what the process is like here at Resonate Church!
If you haven't been baptized yet, join in on a Baptism Class to learn what the Bible says about baptism, who should be baptized and how we do it here at Resonate Church.
THE PROCESS
1. Attend a Baptism Class.
Whether in person or online, we invite you to attend a baptism class to dig deeper into what Scripture says about baptism and what it is, learn who should be baptized, and answer how you can be baptized here at Resonate Church.
2. Pray about your Next Step.
Spend time in prayer with God as you consider baptism as your Next Step.
3. Fill out the Baptism Request Form.
In the process of requesting your spot for baptism, you'll also prepare your personal testimony, and logistical details of when, where, and who will be baptizing you.
4. Have a conversation with the Campus Baptism Coordinator.
This is the person that will walk with you through the details of your baptism experience, and answer any questions you have in the process.
5. Get baptized!
Join with others on Baptism Weekend, and publicly declare your faith in Jesus!
BAPTISM FAQs
It is an illustration of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection and of our identification with Christ in being raised to new life in Him. You are following Christ’s example and proclaiming Him as your King before all.
It is always an awesome thing when those you love are there to see your baptism, but try to avoid using this as a reason to delay your baptism. Christ deserves to be first before all in your walk with Him and other priorities that would rise above Him should fall. The act of baptism signifies your obedience to Him before all others, even family. Help those around you to see the importance of this step in your spiritual walk, that they might make a change in priorities to attend the event when planned.
We only baptize a child once they have reached an age of understanding, and have placed their faith in Christ, receiving Him as Savior. With parental consent, we will consider your request accordingly.
Absolutely! It is an awesome thing when every member of a family comes to a relationship with Christ and wants to be obedient to Him in baptism.
If you’ve had a believer’s baptism, it is not necessary that you be baptized again. Baptism is a public declaration that you are a follower of Jesus. If you were baptized once before as a believer, but walked away from God and want to recommit your life to Him, we leave it up to your discretion on whether to be baptized again. It may be the right milestone to signify your devotion to Christ. If you were not a believer when you last got baptized (i.e. you were an infant, or came from a church tradition that required baptism as a milestone, etc.) then we encourage you to be baptized now as a believer of Jesus and declaration that you are His follower.
During your baptism, the Campus Pastor will ask you the question, "Have you received Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?" All you will need to respond with is, "Yes!"
For some people, we may also ask you if you would be interested in sharing your testimony on video.
