Requirements

1. 1. Must have a relatively strong marriage themselves so they can model a healthy marriage to another couple. 
2. 2. Both spouses must be committed to sharing the responsibility of mentoring another couple.
3. 3. Must be a member of Resonate Church and demonstarte a strong faith and understanding of the Gospel.
4. 4. Show warmth, genuineness, vulnerability, acceptance, and empathy in your interactions.

Basic Responsibilities of Mentor

1. 1. Receive initial training and homework (around 20 hours), and ongoing training (around 3-4 meetings per year with team) in how to be an effective pre-martial or marital lay counselor.
2. 2. Meet with an engaged or pre-engaged couple 7+ times, covering a list of topics detailed in a provided manual. Choose when and how often to meet with a couple.
3. 3. Meet with Team Leaders to discuss your plan and progress with counselee couple, and ongoing accountability for growth in your own marriage.
4. 4. Ask for help if the couple has issues that are beyond your capability.
5. 5. Continue mentoing the couple after lay counseling is done.
6. 6. Involvement in potentia Marriage Ministry events.
